- Fiona obtained her BDS degree in South Africa, followed by an MSc in Oral Pathology from Queen Mary Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.
- Her PhD thesis was entitled Genomic and Proteomic Analysis of patients with Aggressive Periodontitis. Her research interest lies in the analysis of diagnostic and prognostic markers in GCF and saliva.
- Most of her teaching and practice is in the field of periodontology.
- Fiona has a special interest in dental education particularly in the use of technology utilizing a blended learning approach and is currently completing an MA in Clinical Pedagogy.
